Because I can (Again)
Lately I’ve given up playing with Linux on my old ThinkPad X201, and gone back to my ASUS Zenbook. It’s a nice computer though its keyboard isn’t as chunky and satisfying as the Thinkpad. Also, Windows 10 works more efficiently than Linux. Or you don’t have to worry about it so much. Or things work better right out of the box. True, you may be tied in with some of the evil geniuses of computing: Microsoft, Google, etc. But isn’t that the price you have to pay?
So today I downloaded Github Desktop for Windows 10. I experimented with Github a bit when I used Linux, to see if it could serve me for what I wanted to do. One of those possibilities was blogging.
Mostly for the last few years I’ve blogged with Wordpress at Godspelled But before that I produced a few posts using Github, at another Godspelled. I suppose in my mean old heart I was hoping for a completely free blogging platform and host, to save having to fork out whatever-it-is-each-year for Wordpress. But using Github from the Linux command line was complicated, and I kept forgetting how to do it, and having to look back to the manual again and again. So for non-techies like me, Github Desktop is a Godsend. I don’t know what may come of it. But it’s something to keep me occupied and happy.
